DataCert Strengthens Executive Management Team
Promotions Add Depth to Company’s Software Development Leadership
HOUSTON, Sept. 25, 2007 – DataCert, Inc., the leading provider of legal and IP spend and matter management solutions, today announced that Chris Fields has been promoted to chief technology officer and Curtis Schlak has been named vice president of engineering.
Fields will assume responsibility for the overall technical architecture of the company’s products and services and brings more than 15 years of experience in software development and technical leadership to DataCert’s experienced management team. He joined DataCert in 2001 after its acquisition of DigiContract, a company he co-founded in 1999, and was named chief architect soon afterwards.
Schlak will direct DataCert's software product engineering processes, including design, implementation, quality assurance and deployment. He joined DataCert in early 2006 as a principal developer and quickly rose through the ranks to director of development. A veteran of creating and testing software, Schlak founded Gray Iris Software in 2001 and worked closely with Fortune® 500 companies to design and maintain software products through multiple life cycles.
“We are extremely fortunate to have talent such as Chris and Curtis join our executive management team,” commented Eric M. Elfman, DataCert’s founder, president and CEO. “Not only do they both have extensive experience in software design and development, they also have an unparalleled ability to inspire positive results from contemporary methodologies in product evolution. Our leadership will now have added vision to grow DataCert into the leading technology provider for legal operations management.”
These promotions come on the heels of DataCert’s May acquisition of legal technology vendor Corprasoft, Inc. Both leadership positions will support the integration of Corprasoft’s matter management technology with DataCert’s legal and IP spend management solutions, while also working on the next generation of DataCert’s offerings for corporate law departments and law firms.
Fields begins his duties as CTO effective immediately. Schlak’s promotion as vice president took effect in June.
