DataCert's David Bain Honored by Best Corporate Counsel Awards

HOUSTON, Oct. 2, 2007 - DataCert, Inc., the leading provider of legal and IP spend and matter management solutions, announced today that David Bain, its associate general counsel, has been named a finalist in the Best Corporate Counsel Awards in the category of "Outstanding Associate or Assistant Corporate General Counsel." The awards, sponsored by the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Houston Business Journal, honor the best and brightest of the legal profession.

The winner will be announced at the awards gala on October 4, 2007.

Bain secured his position as a finalist through his innovative practices in contract negotiation. Most recently, he played a key role with the company's acquisition of Corprasoft, a Dallas-based provider of matter management solutions. He has also been instrumental in negotiating service and license agreements with DataCert's Fortune 500® customers and managing the company's expansion into Europe.

"David's genuine admiration for entrepreneurial businesses and distinct experience as a lawyer and accountant landed him at DataCert," said Mark Poag, DataCert's general counsel and the Best Corporate Counsel Awards' 2006 Outstanding Solo Corporate Counsel. "It didn't take me long to realize that David is a perfect fit. He is an ambassador and professional on all fronts."

Bain earned his doctorate of jurisprudence from the University of Texas Law School and his master's degree in accounting from UT's Business School. He is also a CPA. He began his legal career at Strasburger & Price, L.L.P., where he worked with small businesses to develop business models, devise equity financing plans, and comply with corporate governance rules defined by Sarbanes-Oxley, NASDAQ, Amex and NYSE.

Other award nominees include corporate counsel from Anadarko Petroleum, Baker Hughes, Lyondell Chemical and Marathon Oil. To view more finalists or to register for the October 4th awards ceremony, visit http://houston.bizjournals.com/houston/event/.
