Datacert Seminar to Explore Challenges and Best Practices for Globalizing Corporate Legal Departments

Industry leaders from Barclays Bank and Novartis Services to speak about their experiences

HOUSTON, April 10, 2009 - Datacert, Inc., the leading global provider of legal operations management solutions, will host a seminar in New York City on April 29, entitled It's a Small World and Getting Smaller: The Global Legal Department. This seminar will explore the challenges involved with globalizing corporate legal departments and present best practices from industry leaders Barclays Bank PLC and Novartis Services, Inc. Speakers will include:

  • George Miller, General Counsel, Novartis Services, Inc.
  • Andrew Dey, Head of Operations, Legal & Compliance, Barclays Bank PLC
  • Domenic Leo, SVP Worldwide Sales, Datacert, Inc.

Novartis is a Global Fortune 200 pharmaceutical company that is in the process of rolling out one of the most complex implementations of a legal spend management solution ever undertaken. George Miller will discuss what it takes to bring globally-diverse business units, many of which have independent legal operations, under one technology umbrella, and how Novartis will deal with their vast global network of firms and IP agents submitting electronic invoices.

Andrew Dey, from Barclays, which is a UK-based, Global Fortune 100 financial services company, will speak about the e-billing implementation challenges facing companies "across the pond," including working within the regulatory constraints of the EU E-billing Directive and best practices around change management to ensure adoption by law firms and internal users. VAT compliance and multi-currency use will be addressed as well.

The seminar will be held in New York City on Wednesday, April 29 from 9:00 a.m. EST to 11:30 a.m. EST.
