DataCert President and CEO to Speak at Rice University Technology Entrepreneurship Workshop
Two-Day Event Provides Prospective Entrepreneurs with Vital Information on Starting, Growing and Funding New Businesses
HOUSTON, June 25, 2008 - DataCert, Inc., the leading provider of legal and IP spend and matter management solutions, announced today that Eric M. Elfman, its president and CEO, will present at the Rice Alliance Technology Entrepreneurship Workshop on Thursday, July 24 at 3:30 p.m. CT. His presentation, which concludes the two-day event, will discuss potential roadblocks to success and business best practices for technology entrepreneurs.
The event is hosted by the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship (Rice Alliance), a strategic coalition of Rice University schools (the Brown School of Engineering, the Jones Graduate School of Management and the Wiess School of Natural Science) dedicated to promoting and nurturing new technology businesses. The workshop begins on July 23 and offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to network with venture capitalists and investors and hear lessons learned from fellow business professionals.
An entrepreneur and a Rice MBA graduate, Elfman strongly believes in the support of future business owners. He has served as a volunteer judge for the Rice University Business Plan Competition, a global intercollegiate business plan competition, for six years. This year, his work helped the competition funnel $675,000 in prizes and cash to start-up ventures. He is often invited to discuss his experiences at Rice Alliance events, including the Information Technology and Web 2.0 Venture Forum held in November of 2007.
Elfman founded DataCert in 1998 and has grown the company from a barebones start-up to a mature legal operations management software company whose customers include 57 Fortune® Global 500 companies and 99% of the 200 highest-grossing law firms in America (AmLaw 200).
