> AIMS IP
DataCert's AIMS IP is a practice-specific
electronic invoicing and legal spend management solution which allows
corporate finance and intellectual property managers to take control
of their IP spend. Based on DataCert's Advanced Invoice
Management System (AIMS), AIMS IP is designed specifically to capture,
manage and analyze intellectual property spend.
AIMS IP not only provides significant savings to a
company's intellectual property program, it also improves the accuracy
and value of core IP data. AIMS IP can be used to audit expense
information and add value to the data warehouse - resulting in cost
controls and a more efficient use of individuals involved in the
IP process.
What Does AIMS IP Do?
AIMS IP allows corporate and IP departments to:
- Validate invoices against corporate department submission guidelines
- Automate the workflow of invoices amongst approvers
- Document the invoice approval status
- Capture expenses in foreign currency on a task-based level
- Post invoices directly to the matter management system or an accounts payable system
- Maintain the IP matter management system as the matter and vendor system of record
- Synchronize IP-related invoice data with both the matter management and IP management systems
How Does AIMS IP Work?
Managing a large portfolio of intellectual property matters
- such as trademarks and patents - typically requires consultation from
numerous outside law firms worldwide. This contributes to an overflow of
legal and vendor invoices.
AIMS IP automatically filters the high volume of invoices
from law firms and legal service providers, measuring them against existing
corporate submission guidelines. AIMS IP then electronically transfers
invoices to authorized approvers in the law department's established
chain of approval. If approval is not granted within a selected number of
days, administrators and co-approvers receive reminders. Authorized users
can access the system from any internet connection around the globe to view
and approve invoices.
AIMS IP also seamlessly synchronizes intellectual
property invoicing data with both the law department's matter management
system and IP management systems. This synchronization enables general
counsel, litigation managers and authorized staff access to a dedicated
history of IP spend.
